We are so excited to be able to announce the Spring edition of our Welsh Weekender, welcoming the incredible Hyunjung Choi and Anders Sihlberg for two days of incredible teaching and sharing in South Wales!

Perfect for dancers who want to kick their Lindy up a notch, this is a great opportunity to learn from this experienced dancing duo who love to share their passion for the history of jazz.

PLUS we’ll keep the party going with our Saturday Night Dance featuring live music (Band TBC) and our Sunday Tea Dance with local DJs. All in the beautiful, Dinas Powys Parish Hall with its half sprung floor, just 20 minutes from the centre of the Welsh Capital.

Hyunjung Choi is a swing dancer, instructor and choreographer. Since 2006, she has been teaching Lindy Hop classes with new ideas, aiming to grow the Korean swing dance scene, as well as competing internationally, with her name becoming known to others after winning the 1st place in “Hellzapoppin contest, Frankie 100.” She continues to show her unique character in workshops and events all around the world. She is a passionate dancer who strives to better express herself, and her delightful dancing gives positive energy to everyone who watches her dance.

Anders Sihlberg is an experienced swing dancer, teacher, and performer based in Stockholm, Sweden. He began his dance journey at a young age and refined his craft with the renowned Hot Shots, a group dedicated to preserving and showcasing traditional swing dance. A versatile performer, Anders is deeply influenced by historic dance clips, particularly those of Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers, and has studied their techniques in detail, including acrobatics inspired by Tops and Wilda. His teaching style emphasizes a balance of historical knowledge, technical precision, and creativity, making him one of the most sought-after instructors in the global swing dance scene.

The Weekend

Saturday 29th March: 4hrs Lindy Hop & 1hr Solo Jazz Workshops

Saturday Night: Live Band + Evening Dance

Sunday 30th March: 4hrs Lindy Hop & 1hr Solo Jazz Workshops

Sunday Late Afternoon: Farewell Tea Dance

Workshop Level:

It will be assumed that all attendees are comfortable social dancing 6 count, 8 count and Charleston ideas to a range of tempos (not suitable for newer dancers). You have probably been dancing for a couple of years and if you have had the opportunity to attend levelled workshops/festivals, you sign up for inter-adv or advanced tracks. You have a broad vocabulary that includes classic steps like Swings outs, Texas Tommys and Back Charleston. You are comfortable throwing in variations without compromising on your ability to lead and follow.

You are ready to work hard, examine the way you do things and want to deepen your understanding of technique as well as individual expression in your dancing. You prioritise rhythm, connection to the music and your partner and quality of movement in your dancing over learning moves. You are comfortable with solo routines like the Shim Sham or Jitterbug Stroll and want to explore your solo movement more.
